Have You Ever Seen the Rain?

It has finally been cold and rainy here in Los Angeles and I couldn't be happier about it. I can finally sport my navy and black, color-blocked, wool coat from Barney's. I left my old umbrella in a restaurant in Paris ages ago, and it took me nearly a year to find one to replace it. I found this one this summer in Cape Cod at the Marc Jacobs store, but it hasn't really rained much. I love a fun, whimsical umbrella and Marc Jacobs really delivers. There are other great color combos of this design too. Check em out here.
I was feeling very simple and basic today as you can see. I went for neutral colors and natural make up with a little swipe of eyeliner. It's nice to look bare and fresh. I added just a little edge with my hot pink bra showing through my paper thin tee.
Recently Benefit decided to discontinue my favorite blush ever. The 10 -a  two in one bronzer/highlighter, much to my dismay, to say the least. It took me three trips to Sephora to finally find a new one. So many blushes/bronzers have so much glitter in them and I am not a fan. After some assistance from a very helpful employee I have found my new blush, Hourglass Illume Cream-to-Powder Bronzer in Sunset. It took some getting used to but I have finally mastered applying it with my fingers. I think it really makes a beautiful, natural glow.

Wild Honey Pie.

Happy Monday people!  I feel as cuddly as a teddy bear in this toasty sweater. I love the color of it, it's like a honey, carmel, bourbon, toffee color. It makes me want to have a warm drink to sip on. It was love at first sight when my eyes befell this H&M necklace. It's silver and gold, and so simple yet packs so much punch. I have a feeling I'm going to be wearing it everyday. This is the best Monday outfit, it's simple, effortless, comfy and cozy. Only one more full week of work until Thanksgiving. I cannot wait to be on the East Coast!

When Doves Cry.

I am so feeling like Prince today.  This velvet jacket and peasant top from H&M Fall 2013 collection transform me. A swipe of MAC's retro matte lipstick in Dangerous and some accessories and I feel like I might need to get to some karaoke and belt out some of my Prince faves.
I have been really loving these round two tone sunnies this month. I've been wearing them constantly. I also re-purposed a necklace I never wear by turning it into a boot chain. All it took was a little shortening of the chain. It's so perfect with this look.
My nails are still done from a 1920's Murder Mystery party that I attended over the weekend. It was amazing. And somehow these art deco nails totally work with this look. This ensemble definitely puts a bit more swagger in my step than usual, as you can see in a couple of the photos. I may have gotten carried away....

Deep on the Horizon.

I just love the ocean. I have spent a lot of time on and around the Pacific. The ocean always manages to really put life in perspective for me. Something about the massive size and power of it. The answer is somewhere on the horizon if I sit and watch long enough.  Daniel and I were running some wedding errands over the weekend, lucky for us it's was all on the gorgeous coast line. The weather was pretty lovely, sunny and breezy. We managed to fit in some time to play on the rocks and observe some seals playing in the waves. Spending some time by the deep ocean has a calming effect on me. I could use more of that.

Teller of Fortunes.

There is something about January-March that makes me want to wear all black all the time. It doesn't really get cold here in LA. Ever. So it must be my subconscious earning for living somewhere with actual seasons. I don't know. I love this little head piece. I got it from this woman at the Melrose Trading Post flea market. She has like a million. I was really drawn to the colors of this one. This little headpiece is so handy on days when my hair is nightmare. I just pop it on and am ready to go. I have been using this burgundy clutch a lot lately. Its seems to be the perfect touch of color to the all black ensembles I have been sporting. Little hints of color keep feeling more chic and less goth. I almost feel like I should be telling people's fortunes in this outfit.

Like a Raven in the Moonlight.

If you couldn't already tell about the amount of photos in this post, I LOVE this Free People dress that Daniel surprised me with. It feels so good wearing it. Somehow it makes me feel both serious and playful. I want to read Poe,  run through fields, bang out sonatas on the piano and dance in the moonlight. I just love the way the dress reacts to my movements. I am excited to explore all the different ways to style it in all of the different seasons.

A Shape In A Drape.

I cannot even believe it is 2013! I am getting married this year! Wild. Last year was so amazing and I really feel that magic growing. It is going to be the year of the magician! I think it's going to be quite surprising to see what we pull out of our hat this next year. I am going to be really good aboout posting to the blog this year. January has been lovely in LA. A bit of a chill in the air. It makes me feel moody, heady and inspired; lots of  jotting down ideas in the moleskine. Makes me feel like a french beatnik with a touch of the 70s.  I love these shoes! Daniel got them for me at Urban on sale for $10! Great steal. They add just enough funk and whimsy.
I am not usually one for resolutions but this year is an exception. I am going to be bolder in my choices.
Embrace all my eccentricities and own it.
