White Polka Dots and Black Stripes.

I hope everyone enjoyed their three day weekend here in the states. I really enjoyed mine. I am missing the weekend already. It's always nice to get to spend extra time with the people you love.
I've been actually fixing my hair lately. Can you believe it?! Well, I mean as long as it takes ten minutes or less. This little snake braid takes under five minutes. You can learn how to do it here
I've been really into black and white lately. And I have been meaning to wear more prints. Here I conquered both looks in one. I decided I should pull out my vintage red/black/white Christian Dior frames to spice it up. These sunnies hadn't seen the light of day in a looooong while. I forgot how much I love them. I love this capey top from Asos. It's great for my five and a half month bump. It's so breezy and comfortable. I can't believe I still managed to fit into these striped pants, they're not maternity pants but lace up so I could still wiggle into them. I am guessing by next week though those days will be done.
Happy Tuesday!
I hope this four day week flies by fast and it's the weekend again!

Blooming Like a Flower.

I have finally felt up to posing for some photos. So far being pregnant hasn't been too bad. I haven't gotten any morning sickness - So thank goodness for that. But I have been plagued with headaches. Practically everyday. I drink water like it's my job, I've been eating healthy and basically every two hours, getting a ton of sleep and exercising, but nothing seems to make a difference to these headaches. I know it's just the hormones and the hundreds of changes going on in my body. Yesterday I felt great. Basically like my old, usual self.
Somedays I still can't quite wrap my head around the fact that there's a little life growing inside of me. I keep thinking of watching a hyacinth bloom. It's starts as just as a cluster of buds and little by little each bud opens revealing perfect little petals forming a flower. I used to watch them bloom and think about how each flower is such a miracle. I can't help feeling like a flower blooming. Soon I will open up, literally and metaphorically, and a new little life will emerge. Nature just blows my mind. I will say I have never felt so proud being a woman. It's an incredible honor and gift to be the oven for this little bun.
I'm in the second trimester now and my normal clothes are quite fitting like they used to. I've had to start rocking some of my maternity stuff. I adore this dress that I ordered from ASOS. They have some of the best maternity stuff around. I find most maternity stuff is all sort of preppy. Which is obviously not my style at all. So I have been snatching up whatever boho finds I can. I also don't want to shell out a ton of cash for clothes that I'll only be wearing for a few months. So I love the sale prices on ASOS. It's possible to be a stylish and savvy mama to be.
I have been also feeling a bit crafty lately. I made this boot chain out of an old necklace and an ankh from when I had my earring store on etsy. Eventually I hope to get back at making and selling earrings.
Oh and I got haircut! Hadn't had one in longer than I'd like to admit. I chopped four inches off! I feel great. So light, fresh and free!!!! It was much needed. It actually has shape and body now, instead of being like a massive wild weed. I miss it being a bit longer but I know it will grow really fast.

Walk in the Park.

My first post of the new year and I am already spending more time outdoors. I am still not feeling quite 100%. I hope that changes soon. I still managed to muster up some strength to have a nice picnic with Daniel in the park and a stroll through LACMA.
I have been eyeing these pants for months, agonizing over them. I didn't know how they would look on my 5'2" hourglass figure. The day after Christmas I noticed they were on sale - so I finally went for it. I am so glad I did. Not only do they fit well but they are super comfy. This outfit makes me feel like a chic, boho pirate. A little rough, a little glam, wrists full of bangles, I am ready for adventure.
Starting 2014 out like a badass.

Polka Dots & Moonbeams.

Oh man, I am so over this flu. I'm still feeling a bit under the weather. Ugh. At least I am feeling better than I was...Being sick all of last week, left me with having to run out for a couple last minute gifts today. It was nice to get out of the house. I was a little naughty last week when I broke down and ordered myself the hat off my Holiday Wishlist. I blame it on being cooped up and bored. It did pair nicely with my polka dot capey top. It was in the seventies today and this top is so comfortable and breezy, which are important factors when I'm still not feeling 100%. I'ver never really been a huge polka dot lover but they work really well on this top, must be the cape. The mostly black look helps tone down the girliness of the polka dots. Well, I am off to wrap some presents.

When Doves Cry.

I am so feeling like Prince today.  This velvet jacket and peasant top from H&M Fall 2013 collection transform me. A swipe of MAC's retro matte lipstick in Dangerous and some accessories and I feel like I might need to get to some karaoke and belt out some of my Prince faves.
I have been really loving these round two tone sunnies this month. I've been wearing them constantly. I also re-purposed a necklace I never wear by turning it into a boot chain. All it took was a little shortening of the chain. It's so perfect with this look.
My nails are still done from a 1920's Murder Mystery party that I attended over the weekend. It was amazing. And somehow these art deco nails totally work with this look. This ensemble definitely puts a bit more swagger in my step than usual, as you can see in a couple of the photos. I may have gotten carried away....

Deep on the Horizon.

I just love the ocean. I have spent a lot of time on and around the Pacific. The ocean always manages to really put life in perspective for me. Something about the massive size and power of it. The answer is somewhere on the horizon if I sit and watch long enough.  Daniel and I were running some wedding errands over the weekend, lucky for us it's was all on the gorgeous coast line. The weather was pretty lovely, sunny and breezy. We managed to fit in some time to play on the rocks and observe some seals playing in the waves. Spending some time by the deep ocean has a calming effect on me. I could use more of that.
