Beatnik and Rouge.

I have been dying for fall. When it cools down, I love my black. In fall and winter I become a gothic, french new wave beatnik. Since it's still so warm outside, I have been playing on Polyvore dreaming of cooler days. I am really into black and white (mostly black) and muted jewel tones like emerald green and crimson. I find I want to trade in my warm weather, native American jewelry for Victorian and Art Deco designs. And I cannot get enough eye liner and bold red lips. Now if only the weather would let up and allow my dreams to come true. Where are you fall? Don't forget about LA.

Blue Velvet.

I love this H&M ad featuring Lana Del Rey singing "Blue Velvet". It's so weird and feels so much like David Lynch. I just LOVE it. Had to share.

The Other Side.

I was shooting some shots for some album artwork for an upcoming artist and the camera got turned on me. I am surprised I look as good as I do. I was a hot sweaty mess setting up lights and tripods. It was fun being on the other side of the camera for a few minutes. I was kinda hamming it up. Haha.
I have also been really inspired by some Hemingway quotes. I cannot escape them, they keep popping up in my head. They keep me wanting to write, making sure I listen, taking action, reading books and pushing myself to be courageous. So I wanted to type them up. Maybe they will inspire you.

"There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed."

"I like to listen. I have learned a great deal from listening carefully. Most people never listen."

"Never confuse movement with action."

"All good books have one thing in common - they are truer than if they had really happened."

"Courage is grace under pressure."

Extraordinary Machine.

Somehow Daniel and I scored last minute tickets last night to Fiona Apple at The Greek Theater. All I can say is, that woman bares her soul on the stage. She sings from deep within, the music just pours out of her through that wonderful voice of hers. If you can, go see her live! She has been inspiring me forever and it was my first time seeing her live. She blew me away so  I wanted to share some snippets of the show I found on YouTube. I had an amazing time. She is such a talented musician, performer and lyricists...She opened with Fast As You Can and could not have set the mood better. Here is her setlist:

Fast as You Can
On the Bound
Shadowboxer
Paper Bag
Anything We Want
Get Gone
Periphery
Sleep to Dream
Extraordinary Machine
Werewolf
Left Alone
I Know
Tymps (The Sick in the Head Song)
Every Single Night
Daredevil
Not About Love
It's Only Make Believe

Phreud: Eye Spy

Movie night. Midnight Cowboy. A beautiful and sad film.
An inspiring tea bag. 12 hour power outage, living by candlelight.
Daniel surprising me with amazing Françoise Hardy vinyl! He has since surprised me with even more! Blog post to come....but this has to be my current favorite record.
Pepto colored nails to reflect the heat of the end of August.   Pretty lights at Swingers in Santa Monica.
Our good friend Justin on the turn tables, dropping beats.   Driving all night through the desert.
Late night roadside assistance at In'n'Out.
The sun rising on our seventh hour of driving.
Lake Powell. It's like the Grand Canyon filled with water.
Daniel still doing business, he drove out on the boat
everyday to get reception and make shiz happen.
 I'm on a boat!
Driving homewards. Love my Vintique app.
Our room at the Encore in Las Vegas.  I loved this houndstooth wall in our room!
Lunch and lounging in the grass with Miss Wood.
Another movie night. Princess Bride. I love this movie!
Maybe Rob Reiner's best work!
 Labor Day Weekend. Smokey nails.
My little munchkins! I missed them so! Jack and TT.
Jack lives for cuddles! He's like a little pup trapped in kitty's body.
California sunset.

Waves of Goodbye to Summer.

I made some graphic art pieces with photos from our last summer hurrah, a road trip out to Lake Powell. I took a ton of pictures driving through the desert, and of Daniel waterskiing. Summer once was my favorite season by far. But lately I find myself dying for fall to get here. Not that we get much of a fall in LA. But still. I think it was just the constant blazing heat this year. I am tired of sweating while getting the mail. I am really looking forward to wearing boots, scarves, soft knits, skinny jeans, leather jackets, beanies...and HALLOWEEN, my favorite holiday! I am also going to India! And Daniel's sister is getting married! So many lovely things this fall! I have started pinning to keep me occupied until cools down.
So long summer, it's been real. Now let fall roll in.
